Unable to dual boot my Windows 10 laptop

I am trying to dual boot my Asus laptop (specs - Core i5 8th gen, GTX 1060 graphics, 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD).

First the mouse and keyboard stopped responding after the language selection, however on connecting the external mouse I was able to proceed ahead.

Twice the installation got completed and on pressing the restart button at the end the installation was failing. After restarting the system the partitions showed the Ubuntu installation and the laptop started from the grub menu.

I tried the checking the disk for defects, and it shows 2 files have errors.

The bootable USB I am creating sometimes shows 2 partitions or otherwise has Partition 1 explicitly named. I just wanted to clarify if this is normal.

Error after restarting the system after failed ubuntu installation

  • Often need UEFI update and if SSD a SSD firnware update. And Asus often needs boot parameters and nVidia will also need nomodeset boot parameter until you install nVidia driver. Does this have RAID 0? If one drive change from Intel/RAID to AHCI but add AHCI drivers to Windows first. Make sure Windows fast start up is off. askubuntu.com/questions/1079540/… & askubuntu.com/questions/162075/…
