How to remove gnome-core
I installed gnome-core using sudo apt-get install gnome-core
. But now I want to uninstall it and switch over to other desktop environments. Does anyone know how to do this and what are the other uis you would recommend. This is for a beaglebone- So a light weight Ui would be preferred.

not really sure how to uninstall metas; never asked that question. As for "UI's" Desktop/Window Manager, it depends. Probly your most functional Desktop environment for low mem devices is "LXDE" Which i ran on my Original Motorola droid... in a framebuffer and it was no problem.
