Centralized computer lab with usb home dir

0

I have been using Ubuntu for more than 10 years, but I am surprised not to find a good solution for computer labs. I know the LTSP project, but it looks outdated and complicated to setup. I am wondering why there is not an easy solution for managing a room of computers (centralized administration and upgrade) with home for (on usb drive so the user can login on any computer and recover it's files and environment.

Does anyone know such kind of project/solution?

Cheers,
Pierre

  • The USB drive would be quite complicated as /home must be available before login. Usually, the home folders reside on a server, see How to create shared home directories across multiple computers?
