Possible off-topic question. Ubuntu 17.04 is EOL (end-of-life), as is 17.10 that it release-upgraded to. I'd suggest trying to install a supported version of Ubuntu, and using a LTS or long-term-support release (eg. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS).

fyi: Ubuntu releases are yy.mm in format, ie. 17.04 was from 2017.April. Standard releases have a 9 month life, and release-upgrade to the next (which was 17.10, then to 18.04 LTS). LTS release have 5 year support lives. The currently supported releases are 14.04 LTS (which is nearing the end of it's 5 years of supported life), 16.04 LTS, 18.04 LTS and the latest is 18.10 (2018.October) which is another standard or 9 month release.
